Cancer Thriver - Book

Ready to Thrive?

I thought cancer would end my story, turns out, it delivered my rebirth.

At 70, I stand whole in ways I never imagined. After forty years facilitating 3,000 births and walking others through death, I learned to trust the body’s wisdom. Then came Stage III non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma. Cancer became my labor, chemo my contractions, and I became my own midwife.

Written from the perspective of the Heroine’s Journey, Cancer Thriver: Surviving to Thriving isn’t just a cancer memoir; it’s a celebration of resilience, transformation, and the courage to begin again. Through stories, poetry, and reflection, it invites you to see life itself as a series of rebirths.

“Judith’s story is more than survival—it’s a masterclass in living fully, even in the face of the unthinkable.” —Evelyn LaQuaif, Opera Singer & Breast Cancer Thriver.

What if the hardest thing you ever faced was really your second chance?

What a terrific book ! I recommend to anyone who has or had any connection with cancer…the author was able to find special spiritual growth out of some really tough times with a complex cancer…a great read for cancer patients , or really anyone interested in thriving, not just surviving. Thank you, Judith Elaine Halek !

I just finished reading "Cancer thriver". WOW! I expected it to be a good read, but I didn't anticipate that it would be one of the best books ever. Judith’s story telling is wonderful. Her mastery of the medical details of her experience makes it seem like she graduated from med school. Judith’s sense of humor makes what could have been a grim tale entertaining and uplifting. How Judith takes on what is important in life and how to live well is inspiring. In fact, I think the book should be offered for sale in Barnes and Noble's philosophy section. Most of all, her personality shines through on every page and that really is what makes the book so good. I'm so glad that I joined our Saturday morning workshop and that I was able to get to know Judith.
P.S One of my favorite parts is the section on mask wearing during Covid. Judith’s description of the difficulties experienced when wearing face masks is classic!
